General Occupancy Awareness
OVERVIEW
Our General Occupancy Awareness training course is designed to provide the participant with skills and knowledge of fire prevention, building emergency procedures, reporting and immediate actions required from building occupants in the event of an emergency.
By training staff in site specific fire safety measures and building evacuation instructions the building occupants are prepared for workplace emergencies.
A brief evacuation walk-around followed by a de-brief with the wardens, chief wardens and first aiders assist to determine potential improvements and provide a refresh of their roles and responsibilities as members of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO).

PRE-ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Fitness to Participate – the physical capability to meet the demands of the practical demonstration (i.e. using equipment assigned to assist with implementing the workplace emergency procedures and providing assistance to those in need during an evacuation).
Language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills are required to communicate, complete, undertake written and practical assessment activities. If you have any concerns regarding the LLN requirements, please contact our training department on 1300 144 653 for assistance.
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the training and assessment for this course, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
REFRESHER
Australian Standard AS 3745-2010 Planning for emergencies in facilities recommends that refresher training for General Occupancy should be completed every six months.
